Grades 3-8 Fall Rec Field Hockey

Players entering 3rd through 8th Grade in the fall are eligible for the Stampede Fall Rec Field Hockey program. Players will be assigned to a team with other players in the same age range (3rd/4th grade, 5th/6th grade, 7th/8th grade).

Practices

Rec practices start on or about August 1st and continue through the end of October or beginning of November each year. Practices are typically 1.5 to 2 hours long and are held once or twice per week. Rec practices focus on running, stick skills, learning positions, field hockey strategy, and team building.

Games

Fall Rec Field Hockey regular season games are on Sunday afternoons starting the Sunday after Labor Day each year. Stampede “Home” games are usually played on turf or Bermuda grass fields at HCPSS high schools. “Away” games will require some travel (about 45 minutes or less) as we play teams from Carroll County, Hereford County, Baltimore County, and other Howard County teams. Optional opportunities to play in additional Tournaments may be offered to teams, but these come at a nominal additional cost to the players.

Equipment

Each player must provide a field hockey stick, shin guards, and a mouth guard. Players must bring a water bottle to all practices and games.

Uniform

Team uniforms consist of an Under Armour Stampede jersey, field hockey kilt, and socks. The cost of the uniform is included in the registration fee.

Sibling Discount

Families registering more than one child for the Fall Rec program are eligible for a discount on registration fees for each additional player after the first. Register the oldest player first as “Oldest / Only Child” and choose “Additional Sibling” for all other players.

Play Healthy Policy

Players are not permitted to attend or participate in any practice or game if they are feeling ill, exhibiting symptoms of any illness, or have potentially been exposed to Covid-19. Stampede will abide by all public health regulations imposed by federal, state, or local authorities, even as these may change. Current health regulations may require limited attendance by spectators at games. Limits, if any, on spectator attendance at practices and games will be communicated by Stampede volunteers or your coach. Parents or guardians must agree to an injury and illness liability waiver in the Player Registration Agreement in order for players to participate in Stampede.
