Grades 3rd-8th Fall Rec League

Players entering 3rd through 8th Grade in the fall are eligible for rec league play. Registered players will be assigned to a team with other players in the same age range using the pairing system below

  • 3rd/4th grade

  • 5th/6th grade

  • 7th/8th grade

Practices

Practices start on or about August 1st and continue through the end of October. Practices are typically 60-90 minutes and are held once or twice per week. During practice, players focus on running, stick skills, learning positions, strategy, and teamwork.

Equipment

Each player must provide a field hockey stick, shin guards, and a mouth guard. Players must bring a water bottle to all practices and games. Turf shoes are recommended.

Uniform

The team uniform includes a jersey, skort, and socks. The cost of the uniform is included in the registration fee.

Games

3rd-8th grade rec league games are played on Sundays starting the Sunday after Labor Day. The game schedule is organized by the Maryland Youth Field Hockey League and will be released to coaches/parents prior to the first game of the season. Stampede home games will be played on turf or Bermuda grass fields at Howard County Parks or Howard County Public Schools. Away games require some travel (typically 45 minutes or less). Registration includes participation in 1 tournament.

 
 

Sibling Discount

Families registering more than one player in the 3rd-8th grade recreational league are eligible for a discounted registration fee for each additional sibling. The oldest child must be registered under “Oldest / Only Child” first, then for additional younger sibling(s), please select “Additional Sibling” when completing registration.
